College Feels

Although I’m in my second year of college I thought I should share my feelings on it since I recently transferred schools. First let me tell you about high school. High school was unfortunately not the best time for me, I didn’t get along well with many people, I was having family issues and I really struggled in a lot of my classes. This being said, I definitely didn’t have my mind on college, especially my senior year. Senior year was probably the worst year for me, my family problems caused me to push away all my friends and not pay attention in my classes. I ended up graduating later than when I was supposed to so I was more focused on that than college and what I wanted to do with my life. After graduating high school I decided to take a year off school. This was probably one of the best decisions I made, it gave me time to really think of what I wanted to do with my life. After the year I decided I wanted to do something in the business aspect but I still wasn’t positive on what exactly I wanted to do with it. After my year off I started college at my local community college. I did this to get my grades up and really figure out what I want to do with my degree. After my first semester I realized I was really into marketing. So after my one year of community college I transferred to the University at Buffalo. My major is Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and a minor in Media Study.

If you’re familiar with UB you know that it is a pretty big school. My classes range from 20-300 students. This is obviously a huge change from my community college. My first thought was how am I going to learn anything with this many people in here? After my first two weeks I realized my professors really accommodate to your learning and they offer a lot of different things to help you. Its been going really well so far and I truly enjoy all of my classes.

The point I’m trying to get at is not everyone goes to college right away and that is okay. I am glad I took my time to really figure out what I want to do and love rather than jumping into something I would end up not liking. Its not easy to figure out what you want to do with the rest of your life at such a young age. If any of you are going through the same situation or don’t know what to do with college, feel free to contact me and I can give you advice or someone to talk to!
